According to health experts, 150 minutes of moderate aerobic activity or 75 minutes of intense aerobic activity per week is recommended for adults. Keep in mind that aerobic exercises can strengthen your heart, control weight and reduce health risks. For most, Zumba is considered because it is fun, thereby, boosting mood.

Now you know little about Zumba. You will know more once you take fun Zumba dance classes. Here are some tips to prepare for your first Zumba session:

First Zumba Session

Get to class early
If it is your first time, running late is not an option. If you do not want to feel disoriented, you have to get to class early. Remember that you need to be at the beginning because warm-up is one of the most important parts of Zumba. After the ten minutes warm up, the Zumba instructor will start with simple steps having easy beats like cha-cha-cháor merengue.

Pay attention to your legs
It is normal that you feel uncoordinated especially if it is your first time. However, you should not be discouraged. You will get the pace, and you will be familiar with the steps if you give yourself time to get used to it. If you get lost especially if the instructor shows you a movement with arms and legs, skip the arms part. Just pay attention to your legs because it will still guarantee that you get an effective workout. Do not worry because as you go along, you will feel more comfortable adding arm movements.

Wear comfortable clothes
You will feel in control and confident if you wear comfortable clothes. Always choose an outfit that can give you a range of movement together with good shoes. Remember that you will join a fitness class, not a ballroom class. Choose fabrics that can absorb sweat. For shoes, choose something that can allow you to glide and pivot with ease.

Take a break
It is crucial that you know when you need to take a break especially if you find yourself hard to breathe. If you notice that your face is red, it is time that you take a break then drink water. Always remember that water is your best friend. Do not forget to hydrate.

Come with an open mind
Whether it is your first time or not, you should come to class with an open mind. With this, you will be ready to shake, move and sweat. You should let your instructor know that you are a newbie so she can provide you with insight and cues during the class. New students tend to stand at the back, but it won’t help much. You have to stand near the platform, so you have a good view of the instructor.
